Ragusa – a city to experience, explore, discover and savor
Ragusa stands on a chain of hills known as the Monti Iblei, located in the south-eastern part of Sicily. It is the southernmost provincial capital in Italy. The hilly geographical position of Ragusa gives the city a Mediterranean climate, but with slightly lower average temperatures compared to other cities along the Sicilian coast. The city has two historic centers: Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla. It is the capital of a province rich in culture, with an important artistic heritage preserved in the beautiful towns of Modica, Scicli, Comiso and Santa Croce Camerina. This territory is illuminated by a light reminiscent of certain places in Africa or the East, where countryside and sea meet, dry-stone walls and beaches blend together, and balconies and palaces intertwine in a fascinating urban landscape. It is an area rich in culture and history, expressed in the unique beauty of Modica, Scicli and Ragusa Ibla, which UNESCO has included among the World Heritage Sites. The landscape, traditions, sea and history make this area a highly sought-after destination for study and travel, ideal for lovers of art, relaxation, entertainment and cuisine. It is also distinguished by its remarkable natural and environmental sites, with unique landscapes that attract scientific interest.
