Ragusa – a city to experience, explore, discover and savor

SCICLI

Scicli stands at the crossroads of three valleys, with houses climbing the cliffs on every side, a large square below spanning a dry riverbed, and ancient ecclesiastical buildings that crown the semicircle of hills at several points like Baroque acropolises.

The landscapes are highly varied: from the coast—alternating between low sandy beaches and modest limestone cliffs covered with Mediterranean scrub—to the gentle alluvial slopes of the inland countryside, dotted with olive, almond and carob trees, and finally to the limestone hills of the northern and inner areas where the town stands.

Scicli is one of the main centers of the Iblean Baroque of the Val di Noto and is included among the World Heritage Sites listed by UNESCO.
